Eastbourne in East Sussex

Eastbourne is a seaside resort, which had its beginnings in the mid 1800’s with the coming of the railway. The town’s promenade is formed by a large walkway with a fort at each end. The Redoubt Fortress has been transformed into a military museum. The other fort, the Wish Tower, is now a puppet museum. Turn off the promenade and go down Eastbourne’s pier, built in 1872, the main attraction of the beachfront community. Some of the most spectacular sights to be seen in the area are the South Downs. The South Downs are a range of hills, which the sea has turned into breath taking chalk cliffs. The amazing end of the hills at Beachy Head is just west of Eastbourne.
