Exmoor is dominated by Exmoor National Park, which covers 267 square miles. The extensive open moorland is filled with various kinds of wildlife, including the rare moorland ponies as well as various nesting birds and many unusual plants. Along the northern part of the park are tall cliffs overlooking the Bristol Channel. The moorland area is filled with many rivers. The land is divided by steep wooded valleys, which are formed by the many quick streams of the area. Running along the edge of the National Park for over a mile, the Exmoor Steam Railway offers great views of the surrounding moorland and many beautiful gardens on the way. Also check out the Exmoor Zoological Park covering over 12 acres, complete with a waterfall, this park is home to penguins, swans, and many other tropical and exotic birds.
