Strand Theatre

Designed in 1905 by W G R Sprague and originally known as the Waldorf, this theatre was hit by bombs in each of the World Wars, but in true theatre tradition carried on through both events and refused to close. Comedies and farces have been the lifeblood of the theatre over the years. Productions have included Arsenic And Old Lace, For Adults Only, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, culminating in the 11-year record breaking run of No Sex Please, We're British. Peggy Mount, Frankie Howerd, Alistair Sim, Margaret Lockwood, Richard Todd, Michael Crawford and Wayne Sleep are just some of the stars who have appeared here.
