Lyric Theatre Shaftesbury

The oldest of the Shaftesbury Avenue theatres, the Lyric was built for Henry Leslie and opened in 1888. It began by staging operettas but subsequently became known for light comedies and drama. Sarah Bernhardt, Laurence Olivier, Ralph Richardson, Vivien Leigh, Deborah Kerr and Bob Hoskins are among some of the stars to have featured here.
