From a small fishing village in the middle ages, Greenwich has grown into something modern bustling and of world wide importance. It lies almost 4 miles from and to the south east of the center of London and it is here in the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park that Greenwich Mean Time was originally calculated. Longitude 0ĒŠ or Prime Meridian which is the imaginary line dividing the east and western hemispheres passes through a massive special telescope housed in the Observatory. Whilst in Greenwich one should also pay a visit to the National Maritime Museum, the Millenium Dome newly constructed to celebrate the Millenium, Royal Naval College dating back to the 1660s, the nearby Thames River to look at the Cutty Sark built in 1869 and Gypsy Moth IV used in his solo round the globe trip by Sir Chischester. There are also the cafes shops and theatres to enjoy here.
