Old Buckenham in
Norfolk
|
The biggest village green in the country, consisting of 40 acres with duckponds and playing fields is located in the picturesque village of Old Buckenham. A quaint historical church known as Old Buckenham Parish Church is nestled in the heart of this village. Thatched and pink-walled cottages are dotted around the green.
Just about a mile NE of the old village, a moat overhung with trees surrounds the marking of the prior site of a castle built by William d’Albini granted land here for being the butler to the kings at their Coronations around 1146.
