This is located at 28 Shad Thames and is the inspiration of Sir Terence Conran. The museum was opened in 1989 and was the world’s first to deal exclusively with the design of consumer products such as furniture, TVs, vacuum cleaners, kettles etc. There are two galleries in this converted warehouse; the Review Gallery holds temporary exhibitions which have featured items like sardine tin labels and coco-cola bottles whilst the Collection Gallery houses the museum’s permanent exhibits. Also on display are samples and prototypes which give one an idea of what the future will be like. Open from 11.30 am –18.00 weekdays and from 12.00 pm – 18.00 pm weekends. Admission charges apply.
