Derry in Londonderry

DERRY is set on a hill on the banks of the Foyle estuary, a modern city preserving the 17th century layout of four main streets, historic buildings include the gothic cathedral of St Columb. Three miles north of Derry is the Earhart Centre at Ballyarnet, the first woman to fly the Atlantic solo Amelia Earhart landed here in 1932. To the south are the Sperrin Mountains, popular for walking and climbing with forests and glens, the highest waterfall in Ulster is also in the Sperrins.
