The modern headquarters of horse racing in Britain and the home of the National Horse Racing Museum, Newmarket offers a plethora of activities and sites for equestrians and horse lovers. The only equestrian museum in the country, the National Horse Museum traces the history of horse racing over a 300-year period. Visitors can see the old subscription rooms and the early nineteenth century rooms used for betting as well as fine paintings of famous horses and copies of acts passed to govern horse racing.
