Framlingham in Suffolk

The sloping market square of Framlingham adds to the character of the buildings in this charming town. This place is perfect for either a lunch date or a day’s outing. The most popular sight is the old Framlingham Castle built in 1190 by the famous Bigod family. This breathtaking castle is well known because it has 13 separate towers and it is without a keep. It is possible to take a spiral staircase up one of the towers and walk right around the top of the walls to enjoy the magnificent views across the countryside.

For nature lovers, the Framlingham College Mere is an important wild life sanctuary for the area. Bruis vineyards, winery and herb center is a delightful place to sit and enjoy the tranquil scenery. Bruis is accessible to herb and water gardens and even a wooded picnic area.
